Sunday 14 September to Saturday 4 October
Onsite and online

The Highest Yoga Tantra practice of Solitary Hero Yamantaka is the supreme method to remove obstacles and to accumulate the causes of happiness and realisation. Free of our usual busyness, retreats provide the perfect opportunity to focus on and enhance our meditation practice. In order to attend the retreat participants must have received the Solitary Hero Yamantaka empowerment.
UNIQUE MEDITATIONS
Traditionally our centre offers a 2 week Yamantaka mantra recitation retreat every second year. This year we are extending the retreat, with one week dedicated to the essential generation and completion stage meditations of the Yamantaka practice. The other two weeks will focus on the traditional mantra practice with accompanying self generation meditations.
MEDITATION AND MANTRA PRACTICE
During the first week there will be instruction and guided meditation on the various generation and completion stage practices from Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden’s authoritative text on the Solitary Hero Yamantaka practice, Ocean of Indivisible Method and Wisdom. This is a wonderful opportunity to progressively work through each of these meditations in a retreat setting.
During the second and third weeks the main practice will be mantra recitation with guided meditation and visualisation. Mantra recitation is a profound method to purify obstacles and ripen our mental continuum, bringing it closer to that of the deity. There will be sufficient time to complete the recitation of 100,000 Action Mantras. The retreat concludes with a fire puja – an extraordinarily powerful purification practice.
ATTENDANCE OPTIONS
For those who are able to join us for the full 3 weeks, the retreat will offer a unique opportunity to practise the full scope of meditations of Solitary Hero Yamantaka’s path. Anyone who is not able to join us for the full 3 weeks may choose to either attend the first part of the retreat (week one) or the second (weeks 2 and 3 through to the fire puja on Saturday 4 October). Please see the registration form (accessible below) for more details.
RETREAT TEACHERS
The retreat will be led by Tim McKibben (for the first week) and Michael Joseph (for the second and third weeks). Both are long time students of the Tibetan Buddhist Society’s Spiritual Head and Founder, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden, from whom they received instruction on Yamantaka practice. Both have studied, meditated and taught on the practice for many years.
