Tibetan Buddhist Society Melbourne
Peaceful Land of Joy Meditation Centre
Q. What is the time commitment if I volunteer?
A. As little or as long as you like, although if you commit to a task we are very appreciative if it is completed to the best of your ability. There is plenty of support within the teams to achieve this.
Q. What kind of support for new volunteers is there?
A. We aim to buddy up new volunteers with an existing volunteer, to give you support until you know the ropes.
Q. Do I need to be a Buddhist or a student at the centre in order to volunteer?
A. Being a Buddhist is not a requirement of volunteering. We respect all religious and philosophical traditions that support the values of compassion, kindness and inclusion. We welcome interest and involvement by anyone who would like to be part of bringing these values to life.
For some people, volunteering has also been a lovely way to get to know the centre before attending any Buddhist classes. This is especially the case with gardening and helping at festivals.
Q. Do I need to join a team?
A. You can volunteer in any area of activity without joining a team. If you are interested in planning and shaping the future of the Tibetan Buddhist Society, you are also welcome to join a team.
Q. If I have a physical restriction, can I still volunteer?
A. If you have restrictions and would like explore which Tibetan Buddhist Society volunteer activities might suit your situation please email either contact@tushita.org or events@tushita.org and we will arrange for someone to talk with you.
