These summaries are provided to inform interested supporters and friends of the Peaceful Land of Joy Meditation Centre about recent issues discussed at TBS directors’ meetings.

Melbourne directors meet four to six times a year. After each meeting a summary will be posted on the Community Information page on the Society’s website with a link from regular newsletters and communications. You may wish to bookmark this link on your browser.

Updates from last meeting

  • TBS Solar – Investigation continues and quotes are being sought. Also, some discussion about where would be the best location to install the array of panels.

Visiting teacher

Some TBS students raised the idea of bringing a Geshe from India to visit and teach at the Melbourne centre. There was considerable discussion about what would be entailed to do this, and we decided to prepare a brief document outlining the next steps to progress this discussion.

Retreats and teachings

  • We decided that this year the 2024 Vajrayana retreat would be led by someone local.
  • We would invite Les to lead Mahamudra in January 2025
  • We would invite Zasep Tulku Rinpoche to come to give Vajrayogini and Yamantaka initiations in Melbourne.

Updates from last meeting

  • Associate directors – current ones have agreed to continue beyond June 2024. Directors organising additional associate directors. Process being coordinated by Michael.
  • January 2025 retreat – Les has accepted to come and lead a mahamudra retreat
  • Vajrayogini 2024 2 week teaching retreat – to be led by local (eastern seaboard) teachers.
  • Zasep Tulku – to be invited to give Yamantaka and Vajrayogini initiations.

Guidelines for use of photos of Loden Rinpoche

We need to be careful of Loden Rinpoche’s photos being put on social media. A small group to come up with guidelines for use of his photo and to make sure the metadata will be removed for any photos of him that we use.

  • Photo of Loden Rinpoche in temple to be updated
  • Photo to be put in dining room
  • Small photos to be made available for distribution to students who request them

Fundraising for Loden Rinpoche costs

  • Waiting on date for the enthronement of Loden Rinpoche at Sera Je Monastery. Anticipate it will be October/November this year.
  • Many costs involved in supporting Loden Rinpoche – operating costs, enthronement costs, renovations & air conditioning for the Labrang. We will do a fund raising campaign so students can contribute to these if they wish.
