Temple Roof
There have been a couple of roof inspections by roof plumbers. Currently we are actively following up on a Colorbond Gold option with a specialist metal roofing supplier.
First aid training
Recommended provider is Advanced First Aid. We looking for 3-4 people from among residents and regular attendees at classes to do the training. The centre will pay the cost. It was agreed in principle to go ahead.
Charitable fundraising policy
Directors previously adopted a short charitable fundraising policy some years ago. A key point in it is that we would aim to do at least one charitable fund-raising initiative per year with a donation by the centre itself from our charitable fund. From a generosity viewpoint it is important that we use charitable funds promptly to benefit others. The CAT will review the policy and revert with any recommendations.
Homelessness fund raising initiative
It was proposed for this year’s annual fundraiser that we do a fundraising exercise to assist the homeless. There are a number of potential organisations we could assist. Suggested that we get advice from someone in the sector for a recommendation as to which organisations we could support. We will then allocate $1000 from the charitable fund and do fundraising. (This idea was later deferred so we could focus immediate fundraising efforts on supporting those affected by Cyclone Alfred.)
Online streaming of classes
Online streaming of retreats and the daytime classes was queried and whether now was the time was a good time to bring attendance back to the temple so that participants could benefit from the temple’s blessed environment as well as the beautiful garden and surrounds. It was that understood that there would always be people who had geographical or other limitations that meant that streaming could be offered on a limited basis. It was confirmed this was the case already for Sunday classes. On retreats, although there are clear benefits from in person attendance for attendees and the further building of the community, there are advantages for continuing online streaming for both participants and TBS, so it was decided that no changes are required for now.

Temple Roof
We expect to receive a quotation for the work to repair the temple roof by November. This will be a major project.
Temple Upper Deck
The temple tiled upper deck is prone to leaking. Movement in the deck causes leaks in the membrane. Fixing each of these leaks is a big job, and so far we’ve fixed six leaks. There’s now another a leak. We’re looking for a long term solution, to be discussed at the next meeting.
