Introduction to Buddhist philosophy and meditation

Introduction to Buddhist Philosophy and Meditation

A four-week course: 1.30 – 3 pm from 8-29 March

Join Paul Sokolich for an introduction to the essence of Buddhist thought and meditation. You are welcome to do individual sessions or the full series. There are no prerequisites.

Buddhist philosophy and meditation classes help us:
• Discover healthier and happier methods for life’s events
• Rethink the approach to our challenges
• Find energy and inner strength for action, empathy, wisdom and compassion
• Hear a program created by the great Tibetan teacher and author, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden
• Explore the genuine Tibetan Buddhist tradition made relevant to a modern audience, based on highly authoritative and ageless wisdom
• Follow the course text – Geshe Loden’s remarkable work, Essence of the Path to Enlightenment

Life changing – Path to enlightenment

2025 Path to Enlightenment classes resume on Sunday 8 March at 4 pm.

One of the special qualities of path to enlightenment texts is that the focus is primarily practical rather than theoretical.

Each subject includes an explanation of how to cultivate meditation to deepen our understanding of it. The practice of the path to enlightenment is life changing.

Join Chris who will provide a course overview to date in the first week and then focus on core topics like the importance of the Buddhist view of suffering, the faults of delusions and what they are, and an understanding of death and rebirth.

Meditations on the Path to Enlightenment

Tuesdays from 11am-12 noon resuming 10 March 2026

Join guided meditation sessions, ‘Meditations on the Path’, on Tuesdays from 11 am to 12 noon.

The sessions introduce insightful meditations, drawing on meditations in the extraordinary text, ‘Meditations on the Path to Enlightenment’, by Geshe Loden. Enter from the back of the temple. The session is followed by a cuppa and chat.

About the classes

All teachers are long-term students of the Society’s founder, Geshe Loden.

Afternoon tea is served after each session. You can sit cross- legged on cushions or on chairs if that’s more comfortable.

Term one classes may be held in the Meditation Room in the main house, as we are upgrading the temple roof. There will be guides on site.
