‘Whatever appears is all the nature of mind’ – Je Maitripa
Simple and profound meditation experience
Mahamudra meditation is both simple and profound. By allowing our mind to settle into its natural, uncontrived state, we become familiar with the conventional nature of mind, sometimes described as a state that is merely clear and knowing.
Within this peaceful, pure and clear state, we can begin to approach mind’s deepest nature – that it is merely a dependent arising, with no truly existent faults, stains or limitations.
Les Sheehy, director of the Tibetan Buddhist Society’s Perth centre, has received the profound teachings of mahamudra from his teachers, Venerable Geshe Acharya Thubten Loden and Venerable Zasep Tulku Rinpoche. Les has practised these methods for many years and has led numerous mahamudra retreats.
The beautiful, peaceful practice of mahamudra is suitable both for experienced meditators and people who are newer to meditation. The retreat will include instruction on the practice, guided meditations and an introduction to the mahamudra philosophy of mind.
There will be six meditation sessions each day. The first session will commence at 7am on Sunday 19 January. The retreat will finish after lunch on Saturday January 25.
The retreat will be held on-site at the Tibetan Buddhist Society in Yuroke. The centre, known as the Peaceful Land of Joy, is set in beautiful 10 acre gardens. Participants also have the option of attending online.
TIME TO RELAX. There is plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful peaceful environment of the temple and gardens, delicious home cooked food and to meet other meditators in a welcoming community.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT DOING THE FULL RETREAT
Each day’s teachings and meditations will draw on the learning of prior days; therefore, it will not be possible to opt in for irregular days or commence after Sunday 19 January. Specified online and commuting options are available. Please see the registration form for details.
